My very favorite fall drink is the Dutch Harvest Martini. Individually these flavors may or not make you think of October and November, but put them together and I think you will agree. It is fall in a martini glass.
I am going to give you the "Carol" version (straight up full force you may need a nap later), AND the "Mary Ann" version (slightly less alcohol you may still want a nap but less likely).
Dutch Harvest Martini
The glass requires rimming with a cinammon/sugar mixture. The aroma and slight flavor of the cinammon is paramount in the enjoyment of this drink. I rub a little cranberry juice on the rim and swirl the glass in a bowl of cinammon/sugar.
Green apple vodka (2 oz for Carol, 1 oz for Mary Ann)
Peach Schnapps 1 oz for both C & MA
Cranberry juice (2 oz for Carol, 3 oz for Mary Ann)
Shake it all up in a martini shaker with ice and strain into rimmed glass.
If the weather is still good where you live. It's nice to sip one on your porch while you flip through the paper and enjoy your artful pumpkin arrangement.
If I drank one of those they'd have to take me out on a stretcher!!! Just the sound of the ingredients congers up all kinds of Fall aromas....mulled apple cider, wood smoke coming out of chimneys, crispy mornings with that peculiar/particular Fall smell, turning leaves...fall colors...I've said it before, I'll say it again...this is my favorite time of year...absolutely love it...especially when I don't have to contend with snow after the fall. YEA!

That is a three course dessert in a glass! I am writing my supply list and checking it twice. I haven't had a martini in 10 years but this sounds simply toe curling. Maybe I will be inspired to get my knitting out... it is going to take something to get the old fingers limbered up again.

Love that oh-so-subtle prohibition background! You are so clever.

The minute I am finished with these antibiotics, I'm making one of these to celebrate!

This martini is divine!! I am always intrigued when you post a drink recipe, but this is the first one I have actually made and it was WONDERFUL!! (and you are right: the cinnamon sugar really is essential.)
I don't do a lot of mixed drinks, so I was a bit apprehensive about how the ingredients would go together (schnapps and vodka?) but I trusted you and went ahead. I mixed them somewhere in-between the "Carol" and "Mary Ann" recipes, since I wasn't sure how much of a lightweight I am (turns out I'm not-so-much of one normally, but one of these is plenty enough for me on an empty stomach-- lol!)
Now that I've finally taken the plunge, I'm going to work my way backwards and re-look at all your previous cocktail recipes!! (making sure I have a large bottle of ibuprofen handy, of course.)
