Today Will be Different is a glimpse into the life of Eleanor Flood, on what turns out to be a life-changing day.
Written by Maria Semple, the author of Where'd You Go, Bernadette, who used to be a TV writer, which explains a lot about the fast paced dialogue, which at times felt a bit frenetic. BUT... that said, if you liked Bernadette (and actually even if you haven't read it and don't know how you feel about it), you will also like this novel. It's well written with some very interesting side characters (including Bucky - the troubled troubadour) to go along with Eleanor, Joe (her husband) and Timby (her son).
P.S. If you are a fellow commuter, do yourself the favor of getting the audio version. Kathleen Wilhoite really brings Eleanor to life.
