I don't remember where I read that quote for sure (maybe the Elegance of the Hedgehog?) but it sure sums up this past weekend nicely.
As both Pam and my sister have fully described , we had the best time just playing around with no other obligations to block our creative impulses. It was great fun to step out of the normal pace of life and into a sherbert-colored paint dreamscape.
It was also a real treat to be able to see AND touch some incredibly creative journals.
We are going to stay in touch with the energy of this time by engaging in a regular sketchbook challenge round robin.
It's best to start slow and pace yourself in a challenge like this. Probably by the time the next art retreat comes around I won't look quite so much like I am seriously in need of an appointment with an orthodontist. But if I do - I won't care. We laughed until we cried over our drawings.
Thanks fellow art posse compadres, I can't remember when I have had a better time.
Sounds like so much fun! And crooked teeth are charming;-)

What a treat to be able to view the retreat from each of your perspective. Inspiration overflowing!

So this retreat was just the 3 of you? Not a planned seminar type with a teacher?
Sounds like fun. Laughing until you cry is the best kind of laughter, isn't it? Those are the kind of memories that will produce laughter years later when you just recall that time.
