Today I took note of the status of the plants in the garden. Sort of a last ditch effort to make at least one entry in my garden journal this year.
Geraniums, holly, hostas, oxalis, japanese maple, zinnias ... all looking remarkably well, thanks to a cooler than normal August. I am putting in a request for all Augusts in the future to follow suit.
Amen! This has been delightful! I even have roses blooming, and don't have to water twice a day!

We are ending August on a damp note, excessively so to the north of us. We got decent rain at our place yesterday (hurricane Ivo off Baja Calif.) so it's considered "monsoon" season...when we typically get afternoon/evening thunderstorms. Flash flood warnings are still in effect, but most of the wild weather missed us. It will get hot again until Oct. UGH! Today we're enjoying a high of 87 with 30% humidity.
The flower/plant collage is very nice. I love the Japanese Maple. Such an elegant, colorful tree. I'd love to have one but they don't do well here.
