I brought home some chard and eggplant from the farmers market today.
Eggplant is so pretty but it's not an ingredient I cook with regularly. I googled eggplant, tomato, chard recipes and came up with an idea for a gratin which I am planning to take to work for lunch next week. Unless I poach an egg and serve it on top for breakfast in the morning.
I picked out a flower arrangement with millet, ornamental peppers, and what I think is dill. It made me think about fall. When it's still 90 degrees outside at 8:30 pm, flowers that make you think of fall are a good thing.
In the people arena I liked this pair best at the market today. It was that carefully placed hand on her dad's neck that sealed the deal.
Is that dad/daughter photo the sweetest thing ever? The flowers/herbs look lovely together. I adore eggplant, not the healthy way, I like egged and breadcrumbs and fried in Olive oil. Some hard bread slathered in butter. I'm good.

wow, that chard/eggplant color combo REALLY spoke to me. i think i'll go to my craft store tomorrow and look for copics in those exact colors and take a shot at drawing that exact still life! hope you don't mind...
...and if i squint real hard and dig deep into my memory, (13 years), i can feel a little hand just like that on my neck...thanks for the inspiration this week!
