In case you don't know ... the beginning of "official" summer also marks the beginning of pickled cucumber & red onion season. I for one, have my first jar tucked neatly in the refrigerator. Pickled onions & cucumbers is the quintessential salad to serve with all your summer meals. I am serving them tonight with smoked chicken, corn on the cob, and baked beans.
Sketching your onion and your cucumber before you cut them is optional, but highly recommended.
I used smitten kitchen's pickling recipe except I used a bit less salt and added dill and some red pepper flakes along with the mustard seeds.
I read the title as stretching not sketching. Oh goodness.
