Just in case you were wondering. There are things about fall that I love almost as much as pumpkins. Chief amongst them would be this lovely orange specimen below.
When I saw this woman fashioning a wreath out of bittersweet at the market I knew I would be circling back to get one (or two) for the house.
Her farm is south of Lawrence and she told me that she saw it growing alongside the road as she and her husband were on their way home several days ago. She said they pulled over to harvest a bunch and she just hadn't gotten around to doing anything with it until now.
Luckily for me, she found some time right as I happened to be walking by her booth.
I think 2 wreaths is just the right amount. Unless I see more at the market this weekend. In which case the front porch will need some too.
Oh how I wish bittersweet grew here! My next door neighbor had a vine that covered the side of her garage! I would pick my share of this wonderful plant to make wreaths and put in bouquets. I'm green with envy.

They are gorgeous Carol! Perfect in fact!
If I'd been there I would have wanted one or two, too!
We could have wrestled for them.
But you're safe, too long of a commute!
Book arrived safely yesterday, thank you!

I love bittersweet. Your farmers market is a good one. We have a fairly large farmers market, but they rarely have cut flowers or bittersweet or things like that. It was a COLD day yesterday at the farmers market!!

Bittersweet is the epitome of a Kansas fall. Love it!
