My ongoing quest to get in 10,000 steps a day has me exploring new places to walk both in Lawrence and Kansas City. Neighborhood walks are convenient but get predictable, so on days off I like to seek out adventure. Last week this led me down to "the Mighty Kaw", more commonly known as the Kansas river.
In addition to lovely views of the water, train tracks, and dogs taking their owners on walks, I spotted a dolly watching the sun come up, a tree that I am pretty sure comes alive when the sun goes down, and a totally cool house number sign.
Just exactly the precise amount of adventure I was looking for. On a Tuesday morning.
P.S. This is the Kansas River Levee trail - I accessed it right over the bridge on North 2nd street.
That tree!

The man and dog walking down the road, so idyllic. I love exploring new places. It renews a sense of wonder.

Oh, if only I had neighborhoods like that to walk in. How is the step counting going? Did you have one of those Fit Bit gadgets that monitors all kinds of health related data? A couple of friends have it and like it very much.

Am totally smitten by that tree. Talk about personality, even if I am anthropomorphizing.
Am going to attempt drawing it. Fingers crossed. Feel so refreshed after "our" walk⭐️☀️.

You almost make me want to move to Kansas. Except that I would miss the ocean. But, still, there would be a lot of new for me to explore. Beautiful.

So fun! Love the sights! Especially the "dolly!" My husband and I just took a 14 day road trip from Michigan to California. I lost my fit bit in either San Diego or Sedona. It's great to see how far we've walked in a day. That's why I love your commitment to getting out there and making every day walking, a learning experience.
