Dogwoods are pretty in front of brick houses, windows with lace curtains, and lakes.
They photograph well in shade or sun and close up or from a distance.
I like them pink, or white, or pink and white.
The only piece of advice I will give you about pictures and dogwoods is this: if you decide to stop in front of a complete strangers house, wander onto their front lawn, and point and shoot in a way that could be misconstrued as snooping, AND the homeowner pulls into their driveway while you are doing this, be sure you have a good line to tell them and make sure you are very effusive in telling them how beautiful their tree is and how much you loved taking pictures of it and how you really hope they don't mind.
They're all so pretty and remind me of spring in Oklahoma. We had both pink and white in our yard there. They don't grow up here in MT.
