Today we were in Concordia Kansas to see Dottie and our friend Mary Fran, who was celebrating her 60th Jubilee.
While we were at the Motherhouse of the Sisters of St. Joseph, we learned some new information about Chris's two great Aunts that were also members of this community. Below is Sister Assumpta Gribben at her 8th grade graduation. We had never seen a photo of her that young before. We also walked through the cemetery to say hello to many of our old teachers and friends.
There was time this morning for a walk around town, during which we saw hollyhocks, grain elevators, cool buildings, and I ate mulberries for the first time ever. Dottie ate one first to prove it was safe. She and Mary Ann are always trying to get me to eat things off trees and bushes when we are on walks. I will admit it was tasty and it wasn't full of seeds like a blackberry like I thought it would be.
But mostly today was about Mary Fran. Celebrating the extraordinary person that she is, and all the lives she has touched through the years with her beautiful, tender, spirit.
Congratulations to Mary Fran!
