This is the story of how we went out on an adventure on the day before the 4th of July to get corn.
Except Bismarck's was closed so the corn buying expedition turned into an adventure to find houses decorated for the 4th of July. Which we did.
After about an hour or so, I told Chris "we better get home, I don't want to be gone if anyone comes by with that piece of flag cake". Plus I needed to bake the golden beets and turn them into this weeks salad along with some kale, red and yellow peppers, and dried cranberries and raisins. I also think Chris could have been losing patience with me saying "STOP!! Right HERE. NO! Back up a little", as he drove while I focused and clicked. It's very important though, to get just the right angle when photographing 4th of July decorations on the 3rd of July.
When we got home, after I checked the front porch, I made a drink so I could use my holiday cocktail napkins. Then I made a list of ingredients for flag cake. Because it looks like there will be no flag cake this year unless we make it ourselves. Which, I am fully prepared to do.
