Today, on the autumnal equinox, it seemed right to try out another knitted pumpkin pattern. And so I did. I used leftover bits of yarn.
The pattern was a bit fussier than the extremely simple one I did previously. Lots more stitches and increasing and decreasing and the like, but it does add an element of realism to the finished product. Even though my stem looks a thimble.
And now there are two. Until I try the next one. I have one more pattern to go. There are 3 contenders on the shortlist of the "best knitted pumpkin pattern". I intend to declare a winner.
For those of you who are perhaps a bit less enamored with fall and all things pumpkin, I give you this perspective on the season. I do so enjoy a clever read. I intend to go back to the archives at McSweeney's (which I added to my Feedly) and read every other article ever written by Sarah Hutto.
OMG! Sarah Hutto is positively an antidote to gloom! Hysterical and LOL! Thanks!

Your pumpkins are super-cute!
I'm teaching myself how to knit and I made a pumpkin, too! Mine had a lot of unintentional realism because it looked like one of the Charlie Brown ones on the sale table at the store.
This doesn't bode well for my plan to knit a pair of socks.

I love you pumpkins. Fall is my favourite time of year and I was married in the fall.

Oh! I like the latest pumpkin. Keep it up, you're creating a pumpkin lalapalooza!

Wonderful article!
'Some cultures have theorized that this is nature’s way of reminding us, annually, that we are always on the precipice of utter emptiness and obliteration. Just something to ponder as you drive home from work in the dark.' This is the story of Persephone who was condemned to the Underworld for 6 months of the year for eating pomegranate seeds... or something like that!
Funny I don't think I know anyone who doesn't love autumn, most people in my circles cannot wait for summer to end... Me, I get my cornucopia of the blues in spring, which is happening now for me in the Southern Hemisphere, but even moreso in summer...I am a winter person through and through. No yoga pants for me, I get blackout blinds to keep out the light...
