Saturday we ventured out to the Baker Wetlands to see what we could see. In addition to getting to pet a 12 week old chocolate lab, who was taking his new mama for a walk, we said hello to frogs, ducks, and birds. We did not pet them.
This is a great place to walk when there is a nice cool breeze and it's sunny. Maybe not so great in the heat of summer, although as we made our way around the place we did find some areas that were shaded.
Spring time burning is happening in Kansas right now. You don't need binoculars to see that, but if you do have a pair - bring them. We wished that we had brought ours so we could see some of the birds better.
There are 45 acres of native wetlands, as well as many acres of restored meadows and marshes. The Oregon/Calilfornia trail runs through the middle of it. If you come, stop at the visitors center if it's open. You can get a map there of all the different trails and parking areas.
Wonderful! Thanks for sharing! ;o)
