On Tuesday, at 11:09 am, I disembarked from my vehicle at Loose Park. As I strolled among flowering trees and expanses of green grass I encountered a lady in a dress with sandals, on the swing set, pumping her legs like a 4 year old.
There were flowering shrubs to see, trees with textured trunks to touch, and lilacs to be sniffed.
A man in a bucket hat walking his white poodle with a bobbed tail smiled and said "hello" to me.
Two friends out for a stroll stopped to take pictures of ducks on the pond, and I saw two blue-jays, a robin, and a grackle playing games together.
There were benches for sitting in a grouping of evergreens and the scent produced by the sun warming the pine straw made me sit for awhile. With my eyes closed. Remembering all of the the places in my life I have smelled that exact fragrance.
I saw gloved gardeners tending the roses and a group of kids on a field trip running around; laughing as their sweaters trailed off their backs, their teachers reminding them to "be careful".
Then I got back in my car and headed for 1900 Barker in Lawrence, where upon the advice of Quail Nancy, I ordered the Botanical Shrub. Sigh. The baguette jumped into my hand of it's own accord. Double sigh.
This is a classic demonstration of how the "should do" ought to be generally ignored in favor of the "could do" to derive maximum enjoyment out of a couple of agenda free hours on a Tuesday in April.
The end.
Amen!

Thank you for a beautiful spring stroll! Reminds me so much of Oklahoma. We're very wet and dreary here, but the grass is green now, and we still have many nights well below freezing.
