If you are in the Kansas City area, do yourself the favor of paying a visit to McClain's on Gregory sometime.

I cruised on by last week with THE Thompson girls.

Their avocado toast is to die for.  The sprouts and feta give it a unique spin and the whole grain toast is robust and chewy (I am forever in your debt for telling me about this Emily). 

But you could always go with this. 

Or pick something entirely different off the menu.

There was a 4 year old "foodie" there who wanted to be sure I knew what his favorite item on the menu was.  Unequivocally. 

While you are there you can pick up a cake.

Or take a self portrait in their window.

If that happens to be your thing. 

If you are lucky, maybe the Thompson girls will still be hanging out. And will offer to take you on an adventure.
