I just finished listening to I'll be Gone in the Dark, which details the search for the "Golden State Killer". While always drawn to "true crime" stories, as I get older, my ability to tolerate gruesome details or moments of terror, on the screen or in a book has lessened. What was interesting about this book, is that it is almost "clinical". A view from a distance, that does not put the reader right there in the moment, but still gives you a sense of those involved.
It provides an excellent recounting of a dogged pursuit by dedicated investigators over the course of many years. In this age of advanced forensic technology, it's hard to remember that not so long ago, these tools were not available. Definitely recommended.
