Today, after work, when I stopped at Hi-Hat Coffee, I expected to get a great iced coffee. Which I did. Actually I ended up getting the iced honey lavender latte (on the recommendation of a very nice man ahead of me in line) and it was divine. Not too sweet. Cold. Perfect.
What I did not expect was to meet Bernadette. She told us about the contest up the street where you could guess the number of chocolate pieces in a big jar and if you are correct, you win the whole thing. She was 100% delightful. Just the kind of person you want to meet after a long day at work.
If that wasn't already enough, when we walked outside the best table in place was waiting for us. In the shade.
But WAIT! It gets better. When we were headed to our cars I spotted someone else who caught my eye and we started to chat. Turns out he was Bill Guilfoil and if you click on his name you can learn all about him. When we shook hands as we were leaving he stood up, looked me straight in the eye, and smiled. Oh I do love a gentleman.
I have decided there must be some kind of magical vortex under Hi-Hat Coffee. My friend and I agreed that weekly sessions will be needed.
None of this, by the way, is a Tall Tale. All 100% ordinary wonderfulness, on a Thursday in Kansas City.
What a lovely post, Carol That is your specialty, pointing out the cool things we might miss. Thanks for the introduction to Bernadette and especially Bill Guilfoil, what an inspiration in so many ways.

Lovely post.
And FYI on a related note: Betty Rae's Ice Cream (also in KC) has fabulous honey lavender ice cream, if you haven't already tried it.
