This week I intend to make some kind of cabbage salad with red pepper and malabar spinach, rustle up a corn salsa to go with grilled steak, throw together kale salads with butternut squash, and eat as many tomatoes as I can.
Thus, the unusually large haul at the farmers market you see above. The acorn squash, cucumber, and bag of tender salad greens were all impulse buys. As was the container of baklava not included in the photograph.
When the first thing I see upon entering the market involves smiling faces and happy meetings, it reinforces that feeling of community at the market.
This fellow had just offered his mom a bite when I walked by. She said she was full already and he said "but I thought you wiked bwekfust buwitos"
The beginning of pumpkin season is upon us. With the chill in the air Saturday it was all I could do not to start getting out the orange yarn. Or running upstairs and digging through the pile of wool strips and planning out a new hooked pumpkin to make.
Dog-gone it she wasn't the cutest in those rain-boots, belted coat, and scarf. Then when I asked to take her picture, she smiled and took cuteness to a whole new level.
This week's arrangement had to be the one with sunflowers, though I deliberated between it and the one with that really interesting green and purple flower in photo #4.
It was all about the height and the incorporation of the zebra grass.
When I was picking it out I told Karen it was "majestic". Sometimes the right bouquet just calls your name and as they say "resistance is futile".
Terrific, again, as usual! ;o)

Always enjoy all your beautiful photos! There isn't one cute person in rain boots, rain coat and fuzzy scarf anywhere near here in Southern California!!! Where it seems to be endless 80+ degrees, hovering over 90 degrees at times and no end in sight. I'm so ready for your kind of cool weather!
I'm sure you will do something wonderful with all those fresh vegetables.🌽🍅 TFS!
