Even though I live in the town in Kansas that has the BEST local yarn store in the entire state (the Yarn Barn), it is important when I hear about a new spot, I check it out. Word on the street should never be ignored. What follows is my report on Yarn Social KC.
First of all it's in a great location. Scratch that. It's a terrible location. Way to close to where I work.
The store itself has a really nice feel to it. Not too crowded, but with a nice selection of yarns.
The owner, Trish Fitzsimmons, was really friendly. Even after I asked her way too many questions. AND she was happy to have me take some pictures.
They had great gift ideas for the yarn lover in your life, plus all the notions that you didn't know you needed.
There was a hangout spot (with amazing lighting!) for sitting and knitting in community with your friends.
I already mentioned the hand dyed yarn right? Like this basket of skeins that started calling to me the minute I walked in.
I love coffee enough to support multiple coffee shops. I feel the same way about yarn.
The prairie makers will have to take a field trip here. Soon.
The motto on Trish's business card reads "supplies and space for people who turn yarn into art". Check it out. You will be delighted. I know I was.
I am green with envy. No good yarn shop near, no place to sit and knit with others since I left the mountains. I really do miss it. This shop looks delightful.Give my regards to the owner. If ever I am there... .
