I re-entered Kansas airspace Sunday night. Inky black skies, a chill in the air, clean sheets on the bed.
The first days after vacation are best for mindless wandering. Getting re-acquainted with the garden, putting things away. Unpacking.
Combining fallen eucalyptus buds with hearts made by Mary Stanley. We visited her at Bon Fortune, where I was delighted to find some of her wonderful work for sale.
Things to remind me of the pleasant days spent out west. A cushioning of sorts, between then and now. A pause before the resumption of normal life.
Two tiny perfect sand dollars, one found by sister and one found by me, bits of sea glass.
Somehow it all seems right.
Lovely memories, and beautiful too.

I always adore seeing what you return home with after a trip. You always pick the best stuff. I like looking for anything from nature to being home with me... heart shaped rocks are a favorite.

I have been told (warned?) that a tendency to link significant memories to small, insignificant objects, is a basic "symptom" of future hoarding. I like to think of it as insurance against loss of those special memories. I suspect you agree? Lovely collection there!!!!
