Though it's been a month since the Moss sisters descended upon Mendocino, it simultaneously feels like its been 6 months and only a week.
Maybe because I keep looking at my photos.
Or perhaps it's a result of that magnetic pull of the headlands.
Really it's the whole of the Mendocino coast. The old water towers, paths to walk, flowers, fog, mist, buildings.
The spot with the pottery where you left the money for your purchase in a box, on the honor system. The wonderful used book store, the interesting spots to eat.
Sunsets, back street alleys, and plein air painters.
The Goodlife bakery and the Mendocino Market Deli with the really nice sandwich maker who told us when he put our sandwiches in a brown paper bag, about how his mom made his lunch everyday for school. Always writing his name on the bag, along with a heart, so he would know she packed it with love.
Maybe it was the "wind phone" outside the Headlands Cafe, where, for no charge at all, you can pick up the phone and have a conversation with people who are gone, that you miss, and you just thought of something you need to tell them.
The Mendocino coast is a magical place, where all sorts of things can happen.
This is really lovely Carol, I did feel the magic. So glad you shared it all together. And, the phone! What a great and kind thing.
