The 2019 front porch geraniums are going down in history as my best ever. That I can remember.
They continue to bloom profusely, with green leaves in defiance of the heat.
In the name of giving credit where credit is due, they are from Pendletons Market, and you can't go wrong when you start with locally grown flowers.
I have also (finally) learned not to overwater, even though it's so hard not to believe they need extra drinks when it's terribly hot.
It's important to focus on garden successes, especially when it's been a season where the weeping cherry that we put in several years ago died suddenly, AND the "tree guy" told us yesterday that the junipers out back appear to have contracted a case of stem canker. Which means they are dying and will need to come out too.
We are thinking about a weeping redbud when the cherry gets replaced. If any of my midwestern gardener friends have ideas for other small, native, decorative trees I would love to hear your thoughts.
Beautiful Carol!
