Selections at the farmers market this weekend are further evidence of the approach of fall. Which, as you know, is cause for clapping, smiling, and merry-making in general.
That doesn't mean there still isn't plenty of time to enjoy a chilled carrot soup, take a watermelon to a picnic, or sprinkle your summer salads with some beautiful red and yellow peppers.
A little bit of crossover between the seasons seems most sensible to me. Slowly working in the butternut squash while continuing to enjoy zucchini. Which reminds me that I saw a recipe for lemon zucchini coffee cake on the Pioneer Woman site the other day that had my salivary glands working overtime.
I had a nice conversation with the woman who makes this honey (along with the bees I mean). She and her dad do it together. It's my favorite of all the local honey. Maybe because of the connection? I recall last year her telling me that she "doses" her children with it if she thinks they are coming down with a sniffle.
Honey and some love from mom. Isn't that always the best medicine?
Love your Farmers Market trips! Beautiful!
