Recently, on the spinning wheel of regular events here in Kansas, the following spots were landed upon. Getting orange stuff out of the basement and placing it here and there around the house. Taking very early morning walks in order to witness the sun clocking in to start the work of the day. Having a pumpkin latte that was mildly spiced, with a touch of sweetness, and a heavenly scent each time I brought the cup to my lips.
A letter was dispatched to Wilbert Das to see if he would mind if Sister, Pam, and I held Winter Art Retreat No.8 at his pad in Trancoso. Included were our individual dossier's along with a bit about our contributions to the world and humanity in general. I think you will agree that his place, photo below from the Sunday NYT, would suit our needs perfectly. Maybe he will see it that way too?
Zinnia collecting continues. Raise your right hand if you pronounce these flowers zi-nee-uh. Raise your left hand if you pronounce them zee-nyuh. I am firmly in the left hand camp. But I think I am in the minority. I don't know who taught me to say it that way. Maybe it was Aunt Mabel, she had a patch of them at her house in Provencal Louisiana. We could see them from the front porch, where we sat when she served us generous portions of her world famous chocolate pie. I just made that part totally up, but don't tell anybody. I feel it lends authenticity to the left hand camp.
P.S. I did have an Aunt Mabel though, and she DID make THE most heavenly chocolate pie. She always left a lot of the custard/pudding in the bowl and on the beaters for us to "clean up".
I'm in the left hand camp, too. I've held stubbornly on to summer, but I think I may pull out some fall stuff this weekend.

Is "zin-eah" right or left? It seemed different?

Jacki - pretty sure that would be right hand camp, but would have to "hear" you pronounce it to be certain :-)

My left hand is up. If you lived near me, in Texas, you would see lots of left hands being held up. Your zinnias were extra beautiful this year. Thanks for sharing!
