I just completed the first Michael Connelly book featuring a new main character - Renee Ballard. I have really enjoyed the Harry Bosch series as well as the Lincoln Lawyer series - with Harry's half brother (Mickey Haller) as the protagonist.
This was ok. Maybe I need a few installments to develop some rapport? Renee Ballard is a little flat and cliche as compared to her male counterparts in the previous series. Have any of you read this? Thoughts?
I thought the same thing, but I'm wiling to give her another Renee because I've enjoyed Connolly's other books so much.

Stephanie: glad to know it just wasn’t my mood or some such that made it seem a little off.
