My halloween started with a walk by the light of a very full moon in the west which gave way to a lovely sunrise in the east. Temps in the mid 40's, light breezes, the thought of 3 days off ahead. I'll take all that over a bucket of candy anyday.
Especially when you are making baked pumpkin oatmeal for breakfast.
With lots of warm fall spices that get toasted along with the oats and pumpkin before baking.
Then topped with pears, apples, walnuts, greek yogurt, and a drizzle of bourbon syrup. Coffee on the side.
Halloween napkin optional, but highly recommended.
There was also a lovely art ZOOM with sister, Sharron, and Joyce with a surprise cameo appearance by Dottie. While they all sketched I worked on my napkin scrap creation. There is much satisfaction to be gained from moving squares of fabric around in different configurations.
Topics of conversation included, but were not limited to the following:
Bicycle safety, why "family standards" are always the preferred recipes at the Thanksgiving table, and our unanimous agreement with the idea that "the world will be saved by beauty".
I hope you spent your All Hallows' Eve in an equally satisfactory manner.
P.S. I could not resist one more shot of the pumpkin oatmeal from a different angle.
