There is nothing as satisfying as making a set of regular, everyday, cloth napkins.
Getting the corners properly mitred and ironed in place for sewing may be my favorite part. Especially when you have an iron that provides a generous amount of steam.
This group of fat quarters was selected purely for the colors, but when I threw them in the wash prior to sewing, and discovered they are part of the "Veggies" collection by Martha Negley, it seemed providential that I was making them for my vegetable loving sister, Dottie.
We agreed upon an exchange of "Carol made napkins" for "Christy made apple butter" with the hand-off to take place on our trip to Arkansas. As for the apple butter... it is smooth, perfectly spiced, and just the right thing on top of your oatmeal in the winter.
Now I am contemplating what I will throw together from these scraps. I am thinking of making some mats/coasters to put under the pots of succulents brought in to winter over.
I should jump right on this asap since the machine is ready to go with the proper color of thread, in the quantity required to complete the job. But we both know that is way too sensible.
Love the fabric!
