Though "red leaf" season is over (here in Kansas anyway), and this blog has seen more than it's share of posts devoted to fall color, brace yourself for one more. Because these are MY red leaves. The ones from the tree that I planted in 2017 after the first one I planted died a premature death in an early frost. Or maybe it was a late hard frost after the tree had already budded out. Either way.
Though it looks like it, this photos are not enhanced. This was the best I can ever recall it looking, and it popped overnight.
I sat outside on the front porch and enjoyed it on a day off. So glad I did.
Because the next day it looked like this, after wind and rain.
And now, this. I almost replaced the first Japanese maple with something else out of worry the second one would die too. So glad I didn't listen to my sensible self.
Because even if we only have a year of magnificent color like this every 3-4 years, it is splendid enough to keep me satisfied through the so-so years.
Just so gorgeous! Thank you!
