There is a not-to-be-missed exhibit up at the Lawrence Public Library right now. If you are in the vicinity, you will WANT to check it out. It's a selection of dresses made from maps - all the work of Liza MacKinnon. Her web site is listed below in the links section. Here is a taste of what you are in store for...
The collection is best seen in person to appreciate the intricacies of the work. For the life of me, I can't understand how she does it without the maps tearing or ripping. I stand in awe of her creativity.

Woweee! Thank you for posting these treasures. Dresses are everywhere for me just now. I posted something of my beginnings with them on my blog - do come and enjoy a look too! + I will return to savour this finery here. Loved the recent market reportage too. I so appreciate the brightness you bring, the efforts you make. Your keeping on keeping on really nourishes me, ongoingly. I need to let you know that, from time to time. Thank you. x x x

What a lovely community service! I called the library and the exhibit will be there till July since the next exhibitor cancelled. Can't wait to see it in person! I've seen a few paper dresses in other exhibits but nothing so extensive.

O.M.G. Thank you, from the very bottom of my artist's heart, Carol. I fell down the rabbit hole of Liza's website and found her Frida Kahlo fashionista creation which includes, among other components, a bodice made from pages of the Communist Manifesto. I'm still laughing.
With gratitude from your biggest fan in Northern California, Karen
