I just finished listening to The Midnight Library by Matt Haig. It’s the story of Nora Seed, a woman with many regrets, who finds herself in a position to experience what her life would have been like had she made different choices.
It’s an interesting concept. Who hasn’t wondered what life would have been like if they had chosen a different career path, went on that spontaneous trip around the world where you fell in with a group of happy-go-lucky map makers on a mission to redraw the world… and discovered your true calling?
I considered stopping about 1/3 of the way through when I grew impatient with Nora’s continual perseverating, but I held on because it has an excellent narrator (Carey Mulligan) and I wanted to know if what I thought was going to happen, actually happened (yes and no).
Recommended.
Carol, I am enjoying the Maisie Dobbs series by Jacqueline Winspear, and I wonder if you might like them, too.
She is an “investigator” working on cases during the time period from WW1 to WW2.
Just thought I would mention it!
Best regards!
