Today I finished listening to A Woman is no Man by Etaf Rum. It's one of those novels that's hard to read at times, but you are unable to stop because it feels like you know the characters, and you must find out if things turn out as you hope they will.
This is the story of 3 generations of women from Palestine who are living in Brooklyn. It gives the reader (what felt to me like) an honest glimpse into the lives of some Arab women. What is expected of them, and the lack of choice for females within this culture. It's eye opening and has made me want to read more. If you have read it, please leave your thoughts/impressions in the comments. I would love to hear them.
Very highly recommended.
