The farmers market opened exactly 10 minutes after sunset on Saturday. I find myself taking my morning walk in complete darkness on these mornings so I can get in a walk before going to the market. I know I could get to the market later than 7:30, but I love the feel when it is just opening and everyone is putting the final touches on their displays.
These eggplant were georgeous and I kept thinking of a character from a children's book wearing a hat on her head that looked like the top with the stem and the foliage on the side.
No words for this color explosion. Just POW!
I love a neatly packed container of peppers. I bet this vendor likes to do jigsaw puzzles in her spare time. Every piece in the right spot.
As soon as I saw these dahlias I knew they were my flower of the week. Until I saw that there were those dahlias, plus other dahlias which means multiple dahlia types came home with me.
I think you will agree I made a good choice.
I love a clever sign. Don't you think giant green onions would be perfect in some kind of casserole with bacon and a savory, eggy, bread pudding sprinkled with fontina cheese? White wine, green salad on the side. Maybe eaten outside on a screened in porch with candles on the table.
Alonzo was making music at the market this weekend. Fabulous fabulous fabulous shirt!
This week was hummingbird cake from the Chonky bakers - banana, pineapple, pecans. Serious love for that icing color!
I have officially turned into a 3 bags of greens per week shopper. While they are this good, they need very little to go with them. Dried cranberries, roasted pumpkin seeds, a little red onion, light vinaigrette that still lets the flavor of the kale and the arugula shine through.
Every week more gourds find their way home with me. For 75 cents a pound, you can really have a truckload, if that's what makes you happy. I am the boss of the gourds at Tall Tales Headquarters. Chris always agrees with my selection and my sentiment that you can not have too many.
Agreed. And, your photography is stellar!!
