It was a chilly, dark, start at the market Saturday. But I am so glad I went. Here's why...
The pumpkins and gourds on display did not disappoint.
Fresh local flower season is pretty much gone, but hang on... the mums are still here. In all their glory, by the way.
I think I said this before but these tiny potatoes make me squeal they are so cute. I must get in synch with the cook here at Tall Tales and plan a menu that includes them.
I was delighted to find lettuce and arugula today. That butternut squash is going to be made into a new recipe this week - curried butternut soup. This piece of Pear Ginger cake from Chonky Sweets and Eats made it's way into my basket this week as well. The Caramel Apple cake that I took with me to the Ozarks received HIGH marks from all the Moss's. This purchase was all in the name of evaluating quality control. Someone has to do it.
Would you get a load of these bunches of carefully dried sunflowers??????
Only 2 Saturday Farmers markets are left for the season. Mark your calendars though for the Holiday Farmers Market - December 11th from 9am to 4pm. This year it will be at the open pavilion at the Douglas County Fairgrounds (1930 Harper Street) instead of the usual location (Holidome).
Karen Pendleton had a glimpse of what is in store for us at their booth this morning. Be. Still. My. Heart.
P.S. This gourd was snatched up immediately. No way I was going to chance that another one like it would be at the holiday market.
