On Monday, the overcast skies, with spurts of rain, and cooler temps did not for one second diminish my enjoyment of the arrival of fall colors to Lawrence Kansas. They came in with a bang over the last 7 days. Favorite spots were cruised by, new spots discovered.
It's supposed to warm up a bit again this weekend, which means perfect fall walks will be taken, leaves collected and pressed into journals. My love of fall aromas inside the house (pumpkin bread baking, a pot of chili on the stove) is closely matched by the wonderful smells of decomposing leaves on a trail outside. The occasional twirling leaf that spins as it makes its descent to the ground has such a magical quality to it, sort of like seeing a shooting star in the night sky. Good stuff. Not to be missed.
Beautiful! Mother Nature's palette.
