Home Cooking is an homage to everyday, ordinary, comfort food. Dishes that anyone can make, if they want to. It's a collection of essays about food, told from the perspective of someone who loves food. Laurie Colwin does not insist that you try her recipes after reading. There is no coaxing on her part, no desire to turn the non-cook into a chef. Just stories of her love for simple food and the role it plays in her life. I LOVED it.
It lived on my bedside table for the month of October and each night I picked it up and read a few chapters. An excellent way to quiet the mind after a day of scrambling around in a busy world.
This book began my love affair with the tasty genre of food writing. She died way, way too young ...
