The red winged blackbirds are out in full force at the Baker Wetlands these days. Actually they are the guardians of the place. I haven't been when I can recall them NOT being there.
Their ability to stand firm on a single stalk of grass, blowing in the wind, never ceases to amaze me. They provide a most excellent soundtrack for the vistas. Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man has nothing on them. Go see for yourself. While you are at it, you can see the birds which you may notice I showed no pictures of. Some days I just want to immerse myself in the total experience and not try to get "the" picture. You know what I mean, I am sure.
