Best thing #1 about starting a morning walk early is watching the sun climb up higher in the sky and noting how every minute changes happen.
Thing # 2 is of course that it starts out cooler, and by the time you are getting hot and sweaty, you are thinking about the fact that it is now the season for iced coffee, and you are at the tail end of the walk.
All the wild things are blooming at the wetlands. Each in their own time. In this season before all the yellow things start, there is a lot of color out there on the prairie.
The Indian Paintbrush is spectacularly bright.
It seems like this will be a decent year for the American Lotus out at the wetlands too.
Thing #3 about starting out early on a morning walk is how quiet the neighborhood is when I am back home and sitting on the porch. Sipping that iced coffee with the fan overhead stirring the air, in that "zen" phase, before I start thinking of what I "should" be doing, instead of enjoying what I am doing.
I am working to keep top of mind this valuable advice from Winnie the Pooh.... "don't underestimate the value of doing nothing, of just going along, listening to all the things you can't hear, and not bothering."
Such a wise little bear!

Such stunning photos this morning, Carol! Are you getting the same heatwave we are getting in California? Our greens are changing to golds and tans!

Dianne: we have had a really lovely may - can not complain at all, but this week the heat and humidity are creeping in ... it's all part of life in Kansas.
