This morning I saw two herons gliding over the water as they followed the path of the river. It was magnificent. I don't generally look at the river so much as I walk by. Instead, glancing in the other direction, searching for the long legged birds in the more shallow bodies of water.
It was so good to see the water levels up at the wetlands, ducks paddling among the reeds, geese coming in for landings, startling the ducks which then take flight en masse. There were tree swallows flitting in and out of the houses along the paths and I heard an orchard oriole and the red-winged blackbirds. It was a little on the chilly side, but I wore my latest knitting finish...
The Sophie scarf which so many knitters have been making. I whipped this up in a combination of a Rowan felted tweed (sulfur) and some kidsilk haze in a silvery shade. I can appreciate the neat edges on this scarf. My compliments to the ingenious pattern writer (PetiteKnit).
It's just a little bit of a scarf. Perfect for a chilly spring morning, and look how cute it looks all rolled up to go back in its place when not being worn. It's a very small satisfying knit. Which I am apparently getting into a lot lately. I already have another small neckerchief thing on the needles. More about that later.
